To probe the quantum design of logic gates integrated in a single molecule or using a surface atomic scale circuit, it is necessary to STM image surfaces on a wide range of bias voltage reaching deep in energy the oxidized or reduced states of the adsorbed molecule (or deep inside the surface valence and conduction band states of a surface atomic scale circuit). Standard STM image calculation techniques like ESQC, Green or Transiesta are unable to deal with a multi-configuration electronic description of the tunnel junction to calculate an STM image. For the theoretical part of our atomic scale surface design of a logic gate, we are looking for a post-doctoral fellow with a strong background in multi-configuration electronic quantum chemistry calculations. The candidate will work on a new version of the STM image calculation program.

Immediately available at the Nanoscience group (GNS) of the CEMES—CNRS laboratory in Toulouse (France), this post-doctoral position is for one year with a possible extension. It is supported by the national MANA program from MEXT (Japan). GNS is one of the 5 world satellites of the MANA-NIMS program.
