Molecular systems behaviour in an STM and ncAFM junctions
Project : The position will take place in an European project, called 'Alternative routes towards information storage and transport at the atomic and molecular scale' (ARTIST). This project suggests new solutions for optical and electrical addressing of molecules, efficient intermolecular communication and compatible data storage. The applicant will focus on theory and simulations of adsorbed molecules and tunnelling. In particular, she/he will address calculations of molecular selfassembly networks, and simulations of the atomic/molecular manipulation with an STM or an ncAFM probe. Forcefield and semi-empirical methods will be used. The applicant will join the collaborative team and will be in contact with experimentalists of the ARTIST project.
Background and skills : Applicants should have a strong background in theoretical and computational chemical physics, and/or in quantum chemistry. They should have an interest in methodological and code developments.
Location : Nanosciences Group (CEMES-CNRS) in Toulouse (France) which offers excellent scientific environment and highperformance computing resources.
Supervision : For further information regarding the project contact Xavier Bouju (bouju@cemes.fr) and Christian Joachim (joachim@cemes.fr).
Period : One year, renewable for one year, starting October/November 2010
Salary : around 2100 €/month.
Contact : Your completed application should include (i) a letter of application; (ii) your Curriculum Vitae; (iii) the names and addresses of at least two referees.
