Instructors of Humanities, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences, Part time

General description:

These are part time instructor position’s responsible for contributing significantly to the New York Film Academy’s new BFA in Film Making. Reports to the Chair of General Education.

Seeking instructors with terminal degrees to teach a variety of courses in:

  1. Literature
  2. Philosophy
  3. Art
  4. Architecture
  5. Sociology
  6. Economics
  7. Math
  8. Astronomy
  9. Physics
  10. Psychology
  11. Anthropology

The ability to teach introductory and intermediate material is highly preferred.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Prepare syllabi in accordance with accreditation requirements.
  2. Deliver course in an inspirational and disciplined method to creative student body.
  3. May supervise the work of student and/or teaching assistants.
  4. May serve on departmental, college and university committees.
  5. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Extensive knowledge in the field in which the individual will be teaching.
  2. Ability to effectively teach undergraduate and/or graduate students.
  3. Ability and commitment to produce research and/or scholarly/creative accomplishments and service.
  4. Ability to work within a collaborative faculty environment.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  6. Ability to work effectively and patiently with students.

Education:

Terminal degree in the field in which the individual will be teaching is required.

The New York Film Academy programs are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). NASAD is recognized by the United States Department of Education as the agency responsible for the accreditation of all art and design curricula in the United States. We offer Master of Fine Arts Degrees in Filmmaking, Acting for Film, Producing, and Screenwriting in our Universal Studios Hollywood campus. The MFA is the most advanced recognized degree offered in these subjects. We also offer a Bachelors degree program at our Universal Studios Hollywood campus.
